HORIZONS AT SRES

St. Richard's has a strong commitment to serving its community, and a successful example of this commitment is the school's support and sponsorship of the Horizons at St. Richard's summer program.

Horizons is a tuition-free, 6-week summer academic and enrichment program held at St. Richard's. We promote educational equity by creating resources and experiences to inspire a joy of learning for our students outside of traditional school time. Our goal is to support students in making learning gains rather than experiencing learning loss. Learn more about the program here.

Year over year, Horizons at St. Richard’s hosts approximately 150 students from the Indianapolis community. Horizons at St. Richard’s is different from other summer programs because of the level of individualized instruction students receive along with the blend of both academic instruction and engaging enrichment.

Horizons is not a summer camp, and it is not a summer school; it is an enrichment program staffed by certified teachers, teaching assistants, and interns.

In addition to classroom instruction that leads to averages of three months of gains in both reading and math, our students take part in experiences outside of the classroom to build healthy bodies, emotional wellness, and connection with the wider Indianapolis community. Horizons students participate in swim instruction provided by the Jewish Community Center (JCC), social-emotional instruction guided by counselors from Indiana Wesylean’s School (IWU) Graduate Counseling Program, enrichment activities led by program partners, and academic field trip experiences.
