Middle Division students spent the day hearing from our talented parents and gained an understanding of a variety of careers in the following areas: medicine and life sciences, social media, higher education administration, clergy/theater, pharmacy, mechanical engineering, writing, human resources and finance, chemist and regulatory affairs, and small business. Our grade 8 students in Mrs. Neal's class also fit in practice time for their next We the People competition. The day concluded with a career lesson with our school counselors.
Grade 5 students performed "Regards for Broadway" on Friday, December 8. Students researched various composers and shows and presented information in between songs in a lively medley complete with 13 songs which included a duet from Peter Pan and a piece from Cole Porter. Special thanks to Middle Division music teacher, pianist, conductor, and page turner Mr. Ryan Brunkhurst for leading this wonderful performance.
On October 11, our kindergarten students gathered around the perimeter of the playground to plant a tree as part of their most recent unit of study in science class. Earlier in the unit students identified various types of trees on a tree hunt, labeled different tree parts and studied bark and roots, and they will now continue with a closer look at leaves. Each student and even Mr. Harding had the opportunity to pour dirt in the newly dug hole, and the classes blessed the water which was poured on the roots. Ms. Cavolick also read a poem about trees, and the students finished with a class picture. A special thank you to Mr. Brady and Mrs. King for orchestrating the tree planting!
