St. Richard’s, a Google school, is well-positioned for successful remote learning. We have focused recent faculty meetings on remote learning and teachers have already begun piloting these activities in classes. As we develop remote learning instruction, we are keeping with the school’s mission and are committed to the following:
- Advance the learning objective of the class
- Include varied, active, creative, and academic activities
- Simulate an interactive class setting when possible
- Be sustainable and support remote work for students, families and faculty
In an effort to communicate shared expectations, students should anticipate the following daily instructional/work time ranges:
Early Childhood: 1 hour
Lower Division: 1-2 hours
Middle Division: 3-4 hours
Our remote learning efforts will allow the educational process to continue in an interesting and different way, but this will not look like a regular day of school.
We have included the St. Richard's Technology Acceptable Use Policy that students in grades 4-8 signed earlier in the year. All school expectations, manners, rules, and consequences will remain in place.
Teachers will be available with virtual office hours for a minimum of two hours per day to support your student. EC teachers will be available for two hours between 8 am and 12 pm and LD/MD teachers will be available for two hours between 10 am and 3:00 pm. Virtual Office Hours can occur through multiple methods of communication ranging from email to Google Meet, to a discussion feed in Google classroom. The virtual office hours and method of communication will be communicated for EC within a daily email and for LD and MD through Google Classroom (learn how to access Google Classroom here).
We will all do our best to support student learning, but we cannot anticipate or respond to every variable. Individual cases can be addressed as needed. Please email us to let us know as soon as you recognize or hear about an issue with remote learning.
