School Supplies and Summer Reading

The Parent Organization will once again organize school supplies that can be ordered online and delivered to your child's classroom prior to the start of school. Parents can visit www.ClassKit.com and use access code STRCH2020. Families can order through July 30; however, late fees will apply following July 16. If your child/family already owns a yoga mat and one is listed on their supply list, they can use that instead. These will be cleaned frequently and will allow for additional outdoor classroom time.

The SRES community is once again partnering with a local independent business, Kids Ink Children’s Bookstore, to offer our Middle Division summer reading books for purchase online. Kids Ink will bring fantastic titles directly to your doorstep, while a portion of all sales will go directly back to Kids Ink. Kids Ink provides SRES with great support during the school year, including the sponsoring of visiting authors, and we are happy to support this local business during a time of need.

The Middle Division (rising 5-8) required summer reading titles have been loaded on the Kids Ink portion of the bookshop.org website. Click on the link to see SRES book titles broken down by grade. You can also search for other titles and order those as well.

For students in PK-Grade 4, Mrs. Dugan and Mrs. Hummer, along with the classroom teachers, encourage all of our PK-Grade 4 students to be avid readers now and this summer. If you need help with titles or navigating appropriately leveled books for your child, please contact them. Click here for a reading log for students to keep track of their reading progress and here for suggested books. We also encourage families to take advantage of our partnership with the Indy Public Library and their summer reading program.

If your child is new to St. Richard's and recently signed up for the 2019-2020 school year and you are unable to get an early start, please have them continue reading whatever they may choose throughout the remainder of the summer.
