Ways to Give
We're proud to foster a strong culture of philanthropy at St. Richard's Episcopal School. Every act of philanthropy, large or small, helps ensure that our students, faculty, and programs continue to thrive. Families and friends can make an immediate impact through a gift to the Annual Fund, play a vital role in our largest community celebration and fundraiser, Regalia, or support access to the St. Richard's education through a gift to the Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). For those looking to create a lasting legacy at the school, contributions to the endowment and thoughtful planned giving commitments strengthen the school for generations to come. Every act of generosity and kindness moves our mission forward.
Annual Fund
A Fund for Every Need
The Annual Fund is an ongoing fundraising effort coordinated by the Development Office, and it represents one of the most important ways you can help St. Richard’s continue to provide an exceptional educational experience that remains an exceptional value for parents. Gifts to the Annual Fund are tax-deductible, support small class sizes, dedicated teachers, classroom and technology upgrades, a socioeconomically diverse community that reflects the city in which we live, and an ever-expanding curriculum that allows students to thrive. Will you consider making a gift to support our students, families, and teachers?

What is Annual Fund?
Annual Fund is St. Richard’s Episcopal School’s top annual fundraising priority. Each year, all members of our community (parents, faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, grandparents, and friends) are asked to make a tax-deductible gift to the Annual Fund. The budget revenues raised through Annual Fund ensures our school has all the necessary resources (faculty, facilities, technology, and program support) to provide each student with an exceptional St. Richard’s education.
Why is Annual Giving so important? What does it fund?
Tuition covers about 80% percent of the school’s annual budget; Annual Fund support pays for the essentials needed for excellence. Annual Fund giving impacts every part of our community—faculty and staff recruitment and retention, academic programming, technology, athletics, arts and music, the unique socioeconomic diversity of our community, and more.
Why doesn’t St. Richard’s simply raise tuition to cover the true cost of a St. Richard’s education?
St. Richard’s strives to maintain tuition rates that are comparable with peer schools and kept at a level that makes an independent school education possible for a wide scope of families with varying economic circumstances.
Keeping tuition rates moderated, without compromising the quality of our educational program, is an important core value of St. Richard’s.
Why am I asked to increase my gift each year?
The contributions that St. Richard’s receives annually are spent, and therefore needed, each fiscal year (July-June). Each year it costs more to run the school, particularly to attract and retain St. Richard’s outstanding faculty and staff. Annual Fund revenues represent a set percentage of the budget, so they must increase, as well.
How much am I expected to give?
Our request is that you make St. Richard’s your primary philanthropic priority. We ask that you contribute at a level that is personally meaningful and that makes sense for your family, keeping in mind the number of children you have at St. Richard’s. Gifts range from $20 to $50,000. Every gift is greatly valued and deeply appreciated.

If I make a pledge by Dec. 31, may I pay later?
Why is 100 percent participation so important?
It is a vote of confidence in our school, our faculty, and our educational mission.
100 percent participation is evidence that everyone in our community shares in the effort. This supports our philosophy that we must all work together to provide our children and the future generations of graduates with the best possible education.
High Annual Fund participation is a benchmark used by foundations and outside funders when deciding which of the many worthwhile schools will receive their financial support.

Regalia
Our Gala Event
Regalia is St. Richard’s largest fundraising event of the year. Each year, we come together to celebrate our wonderful community and support our school with a live and silent auction, sponsorship opportunities, and Fund-A-Need. All dollars raised, with the exception of Fund-A-Need, support the Annual Fund at St. Richard’s.
The annual fund is an ongoing fundraising effort coordinated by the Development Office, and it represents the most important way you can help St. Richard’s continue to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students and families. Gifts to the annual fund are tax-deductible, support small class sizes, dedicated teachers, classroom and technology upgrades, a socioeconomically diverse community that reflects the city in which we live, and an ever-expanding curriculum that allows students to thrive.
If you are interested in the sponsorship opportunities for this year's Regalia, please reach out to Assistant Director of Development, Tara Eubanks, at teubanks@sresdragons.org.

The Indiana Tax Credit Scholarship Program
Indiana's Tax Credit Scholarship program was created as a way to give families who meet income guidelines an opportunity to send their child to a participating non-public school, such as St. Richard’s Episcopal School. Donors to the program receive a 50% tax credit on the full value of their gifts and all applicable federal deductions. Students with financial need receive a scholarship to St. Richard’s.
The 50% Indiana Tax Credit
This tax savings opportunity is available to donors making a financial contribution to a qualified Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). For St. Richard’s, this SGO is the Institute for Quality Education. A donor’s tax credit is equal to 50% of the donation amount.
For the period of July 1, 2024, through June 20, 2025, $18.5 million in state tax credits are available to donors. There are no limits to how much a donor can contribute, provided tax credits remain available. To check how many tax credits remain available, click here.
Making a Gift of Stock or Mutual Funds
f you own appreciated stock, the combination of receiving the 50% Indiana state tax credit while avoiding capital gains taxes is appealing to many donors. The Institute for Quality Education (IQE) has partnered with the National Christian Foundation to accept stock and mutual fund donations. IQE will immediately liquidate the assets, and state tax credits will be based on the liquidation of the assets minus the transaction fees. Please contact John Kroetz in the St. Richard’s Development Office at 317.926-0425 or jkroetz@sresdragons.org to complete additional documents required for a stock or mutual fund donation via the National Christian Foundation.
Planned Giving
A Gift for the Ages
Planned gifts, such as bequests or charitable trusts, can be an advantageous way to provide for a future gift to charity. You can take care of yourself, your family, and take care of St. Richard’s Episcopal School.
Planned giving involves providing for a future gift to SRES through your financial and estate plans. We welcome gifts through different planned giving arrangements. These arrangements can:
- Provide for you or your loved ones
- Entitle you to charitable income and/or gift or estate tax deductions
- Enable you to leave a legacy for St. Richard’s
If you decide to include St. Richard’s in your estate plans, you become a member of the Legacy Society, an honorary society created for those donors who have made us a special part of their family.
To learn more about various planned giving opportunities, contact John Kroetz, Director of Development & Major Gifts at jkroetz@sresdragons.org.
